About Alverbrook

We moved to this lovely part of the world in October 2014. Since then we have been busy updating this fine house and generally making the most of it's great location. Built around 1850, the property will have witnessed some amazing sights both on land and sea during it's long history and probably been occupied by some very interesting characters along the way - if the walls could talk!

We certainly hope that this next chapter in it's history will be as equally interesting and happy, so why not be a part of it!

With just the one room available, we hope to create a comfortable and informal atmosphere whilst ensuring our prime focus is on you to have a relaxed and enjoyable stay. Apart from your spacious  double room with king-size bed and en suite shower room, you will also have access to a beautifully light and airy lounge to enjoy, the dining room where your breakfast will be served and a lovely patio and garden.

So why not visit soon to enjoy your home from home by the sea.

About the local area

The house is positioned adjacent to the picturesque village of Alverstoke which itself  lies a short distance from the bustle of Gosport town centre and beyond that a short ferry ride to Portsmouth Harbour.

Alverstoke has all of the conveniences you could ask for in a small village including a pub, post office, general store, cafe, fish and chip shop, Chinese restaurant , hairdressers, gift shops and more, all of which are  overlooked  by the impressive St Marys church.

Stokes Bay is also a short walk away with it's stunning views across the Solent towards the Isle of Wight. With cafe/restaurants at either end, you can stroll between them on it's pebble beach or promenade, taking in the views and activities which take place on this busy stretch of water.

The area is steeped in history and there are many places to explore and delve a little deeper into it's past. Explosion, Submarine, Diving, Hovercraft, are all great museums to visit as well as the Historic Dockyard in Portsmouth for HMS Victory and Warrior, not to mention the fantastic Mary Rose Museum.

For the sailors among you, there is a sailing club at Stokes Bay, and also Gosport and Haslar marinas where there are various schools and experiences you can take part in as well as mooring and servicing facilities.

And if it's a little retail therapy you need, then there are the designer retail outlets of Gunwharf Quays to keep you busy whilst taking the odd pit-stop at one of it's many restaurants, cafe's and bars.
